He was predeceased by: his wife Edith "Edie"; his grandsons, Kaleb and Lucas; his parents, Charles Staines and Emma Staines; and his siblings, George Staines, Dorothy Hill and Edna Howse.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Knapik (Ted), Doug Staines (Jean), Heather Deline, Sheila Brinkman (Gord), Christine Costiff (Terry Callaghan) and Michael Hare; and his grandchildren, Allyssa, Kailyn, Caleb, Dustin, Joseph, Daniel, Emily, Evan, Steven, Stuart, Jennifer, D'Arcy, Angel and Mike. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home (415 Regent St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S1J0).
