He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerry Nieuwesteeg and Lia Nieuwesteeg; his parents-in-law, Francis and Patricia Patterson; his brother Art Nieuwesteeg (Carol); and his sister-in-law Mary Frances Patterson.
He is survived by: his spouse Ruth-Ann; his siblings, Diane Nieuwesteeg (John Stewart), Yolanda Nieuwesteeg, Charlotte Spilka (Paul), Jerry Nieuwesteeg (Janet), Peter Nieuwesteeg and Rob Nieuwesteeg (Siren); his sister-in-law Sandra Smith (Brian); and his aunt Cathy Nieuwesteeg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In accordance with Ed's wishes, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Forest (https://heartlandforest.org), where an accessible playground is to be named in his honour.
