He was predeceased by: his siblings, Leif (Mildred), Walter (Maxine), Lancy (Zelda) and Gordon; and his parents, Walberg Nelson and Ingeborg Nelson.

He is survived by: his children, Jarlene Nelson, Kimberly Eagleson (Glen) and Jennifer Simmonds (Brad); his siblings, Gwen Milne (late David), Ole (Marion), Harold (late Gladys), Myrtle Wiebe (Arnot), Elaine Hiebert (Jake) and Sharon Lechelt; and his sister-in-law Marilyn. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
