He was predeceased by: his parents, James McVety and Evelyn McVety; his wife Margaret Anne McVety; his brothers, David (Linda) and Robert (Patricia); and his sister-in-law Frances (Terry).

He is survived by: his sisters, Elizabeth (late David), Carol (Allan) and Brenda (Jim); his brother-in-law Harold (Nad); his sons, Craig (Liz) and Kevin McVety (Melba); and his grandchildren, Karen (Brandon), Matthew and Meagan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Port Perry Hospital or Oak Ridges Hospice of Port Perry in Murray's memory.
