He was predeceased by: his brother Fred; his parents, Jim Merriam and Viola Merriam; his nephew Frank; and his stepmother Dorothy.

He is survived by: his spouse Marilyn; his children, Gwen Bayne (Bob) of Sarnia, Rhonda Sutherland (Scott) of Newbury and Shawn Merriam (Tara) of Chatham; his grandchildren, Lauren, Cody, Ty, Olivia and Ryan; and his siblings, Norma, Irene, Ruth, Darlene, Bill, Jack, Dan, Joe and Stanley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
