He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Schmitt and Elsie Schmitt (Bachert); his daughter Lisa Schmitt; his granddaughter Willow Otterbein; and his brother Donald Schmitt.
He is survived by: his spouse Diannia Schmitt (Rickert); his children, Lori Otterbein (Mike) and Benjamin Schmitt; his grandchildren, Trent and Eve Otterbein; his sister Margaret (Howard Ellis); and his brother-in-law Terry Rickert (Jean). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
