He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Dickson and Ellen Dickson (Livingston); and also Betty Belanger (Michael). He is survived by: his wife Freida Dickson (Logan); his children, Robert Dickson (Patty), John Dickson and Sarah Dickson; his siblings, Gordon (Trisha), May, Ellen and Elizabeth; his stepsons, David Nissen (Joanne) and Peter Nissen (Danielle); and also Brenda Anderson (Bruce).
