He was predeceased by: his siblings, Hazel Middlemiss, Trif Manning and Alice Pitsiladis. He is survived by: his wife June Yates; his sons, David Yates (Suzanne Tucker) and Gregory Yates (Arlene Tehara); his grandchildren, Sam, Donald, William and Lauren; and his sister Joyce Tetlock.
