He was predeceased by: his siblings, Helen McBride, Violet Taylor, Dorothy Roseman, June Bryson and Vernon Staples.

He is survived by: his wife Gladys Staples; his children, Lorne Staples (Dianne) of Meaford, Earl Staples (Jo-Anne) of Waterloo, Norm Staples (Ruth Anne) of Arthur, Lois (Glenn Shaw) of Guelph and Linda (Doug Parsons) of Arthur Township; and his sister Mae Gibson of Stoney Creek. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
