He was predeceased by: his wife June Smith; his siblings, Vernon Smith (Charlotte) and Ilene Moore (Wray); and his brother-in-law George Graham (Gladys). He is survived by: his daughters, Kathy (Lyle Bender) of Mount Forest and Debbie (Bruce Witherow) of Mount Forest; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Sean MacMillan) of Dundas, Kelly Bender (George Trihenea) of Kitchener, Kevin Bender (Manda) of Holstein, David Witherow (Lydia Tietjen) of Bridgetown and Paula (Jeff VanKessel) of Oshawa; his brother Sherman Smith (Joyce) of Guelph; and his sister-in-law Marie Hansen (Eric) of Oshawa.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Louise Marshall Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
