He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Shirley Ruth Petersen (Warrick); his grandparents, William and Sarah Watson of Morpeth, Ontario.; his children, Ruth, Chris Moore, Anne and Sean Pennells; his parents, Henry and Edith; and his siblings, Robert and Sondra. He was also cherished by five great grandchildren.

It was David's wish that expressions of sympathy be made to Parkinson Canada.
