He was predeceased by: his son Jimmy; his parents, Cornelis Groot and Klazina Groot; his siblings, Jacob, Cornelius, Angeline Bakker, Elizabeth Mosch and Ann; and his brothers-in-law, Jacobus Swart, Pieter Mosch, Thys Bakker and Siem Sanders.
He is survived by: his spouse Germina Groot (Vanderhyden); his children, Barb Groot, Clasina Debont (Bert), Cor Groot (Leslie), Marian Vogels (Paul), Marg Van Bakel (Jim) and Gerard Groot (Melissa); and his siblings, Annie Swart, Clasien Sanders and Margaret Groot. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
