He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ethelbert Shurland and Ina Shurland; his wife Barbara Purcell; his children, Tshijere, Kwame and Thandi; and his grandchildren, Crystal, Dalen, Malaika, Ewan and Ellery.
