Peter Ladage Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter Ladage (Midland, Ontario), born in Grimsby, Ontario, who passed away on January 26, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Johannes Ladage (Hans) and Elizabeth Tunnacliffe; and his brother Christopher Ladage. He is survived by: his close friend Susan Hirst; his children, Johannes Wesley Ladage, Cady McLaughlin (Gavin) and Chloe Moyer; his sister Peggy Pickett (Jack); his nieces, Sarah (Graeme) and Haleigh (Oliver); and his grandson Cameron McLaughlin.

The family are grateful to the staff of Hillcrest Village who cared for Peter during the last year, especially during a pandemic.

Peter would have appreciated donations made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

“I knew Pete when we were young and playing in a band with Tom Baxter in Hamilton. At band practices, Pete was all about energy, impetuousness and giving in the moment! On a day's notice, he asked me to be his best man. I was surprised and thankful for the kindness. And all of his friends from the day will recall his Pop's amazing summer meal. Over the years, Pete and I exchanged emails about making Art. He was a dedicated thinker, maker and blogger. I will miss his energy and laughter. Terry”

He was ahead of his time with wholesome eating and environmental awareness. He loved listening to and playing music, and I remember he needed a lot of space around him to accommodate his wide-stepping dance style. I expect that there are many people who have benefited from Peter's genuine kindness and friendliness, as I have. He will be missed.”
