She was predeceased by: her parents, Griffith Hughes and Martha Hughes; and her sisters, Margaret Lessels and Barbara Cook. She is survived by: her children, Graham (Janet Anderson), Zoë (David Hoffman) and Vernon; her grandchildren, Skye, Robin, Adam, Nathan and Charlotte; and her great grandchild Caio.
Donations in her honour can be made to the Lanark Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) and the Smiths Falls Station Theatre.
