He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his stepchildren, Michael (Tracy) of Meaford and Todd (Leah) of Wasaga Beach; his grandson Alex; his brother Rolph Hern (Toni) of King City; his siblings-in-law, Donna Binsted (late Bert) of Barrie, Murray Dougherty (Isola) and Dorothy (Alan); and also, Sylvia Hern of California and Ursela Hern (late Gunter) of Germany.
