He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joan Merkley (Amsing); his son James Merkley (Jenna) of Cornwall; his parents, Lillian Merkley of Merrickville and Howard Merkley; his grandsons, Lorne and Rory Dawn; and his sibling Lee Anne Merkley of Merrickville. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
