He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Freda van der Wal (Reinink); his children, Krista van der Wal and Michele van der Wal (Jeffrey Grison); his parents, Grace Wal (Vos) and Heiko van der Wal; and his siblings, Alberta (William), Hartog and William (Kathy van der Wal). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation and the funeral service.
