He was predeceased by: his former wife Nicoline Butler (Krul); his siblings, Harold, Elizabeth and Peter; and his brother-in-law Hans.

He is survived by: his wife Annelies; his children, Peter, Carole, Joyce, Doug, Martha, Lynn, Abner, Penny, Wendy, Donald Hiscox, Ray, Kimberly, Coby and Robert Nie; his siblings-in-law, Peter, Aafke, Reindert, Marieke, Coby and Nicoline; his niece Marlene; and his nephew Rick Thornton.
