“Shockingly sad news - my Uncle “Bill” has passed away. In my mid-teens in the 1970s, Bill came to stay with us — just me, and my Dad struggling post-divorce. He made such a difference to our lives - he was so full of life, optimism and a real Canadian can-do approach to life. He loved the large fresh Spanish tomatoes grown on the allotment (grilled on toast). He gave us both hope with his infectious energy. Fiercely proud of his military career, rightly so, but so warm. I am indebted, and sad.”
