She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. George Gort; her grandson John David Trenker; her parents, Peter Elzinga and Susan Elzinga; and her brothers, William of Edmonton and Henry Elzinga (Sylvia) of Edmonton.

She is survived by: her children, Susan Jurjevich, Wendy Hawkins (Angus), Lori Gort Liang (Joseph), Sarah Trenker and John Gort (Dorothy); her grandchildren, Matt, Ben, Carley, Sarah, Andrea, Cassandra, Rose, Will, Jacob, Toby and Ashton; her siblings, Honourable Peter Elzinga (Pat), Deputy Premier, Alberta Cabinet Minister and Dorothy Portas (Tom); and her siblings-in-law, Peggy of Alberta and Herma Elzinga of Alberta.
