He was predeceased by: his parents, Nickolas Cassis and Violetta Cassis (D'Allaire); and his brothers-in-law, Reginald Faubert and Irvine Moodie. He is survived by: his wife Valerie McLean; his children, Deborah Sparkman (Ed), Michael Cassis, Darryl Cassis, Nickolas Cassis (Heather), Julia Cassis and Joseph Cassis; and his siblings, Jeanette Faubert, Claudette Dobson (Bill), Anita Moodie, Philip Cassis (Lorna) and Lynda Charlton (Ian).

Donations to Diabetes Canada, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Terry Fox Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
