He was predeceased by: his parents, Sophie Merskey and Harry Merskey; and his siblings, Donald Mercer (Maureen) and Fay Young (Leo). He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Helen Kaymer (Andrew), Ruth and Alan (Kat Balpataky); his grandchildren, Linnet Farshi-Kaymer (Tom), Elana Kaymer (Simon Zeffertt), Madeleine, Owen and Griffin Merskey; his nephews, Philip Young (Sylvia) and Joseph Young (Rachel Goldstone); and his niece Sarah Krosner (Gadi).
