He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Hey and Patricia Hey; and his father-in-law Frank. He is survived by: his sons, Collin (Ali) and Brandon; his granddaughter Estelle Marie; his sister Glenda Thomas (Chuck); his siblings-in-law, Rosemarie Charters (Dalton) and David Capek; his niece Sara; his nephews, Jason and Dalton Mathew; and his great-niece Jillian.
