He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret MacDougall; his brother Malcolm MacDougall; and his brother-in-law Robert. He is survived by: his children, Neil (Kelly), Rosanne Johnson and Carolyn Stewart (Randy); his grandchildren, Kyle, Alexander MacDougall, Aaron, Drew Johnson and Austin Stewart; his siblings, Allison Eldridge (Mary), Fraser MacDougall (Lola) and Lorraine Surette (Bobby); and his sister-in-law Joan.
