Janice Craven wrote a sympathy message

“Caroline was one of the world’s truly bright lights. My father, Monte Salway, told her often that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. When he suffered a stroke in 2005, she moved in to care for him for the final five years of his life. Caroline seemed tireless caring for her family and home, and was sharp as a tack, keeping in touch with her many lifelong friends. After my father’s death in 2010, my sister Shirley and I kept in touch with Caroline and visited our second mum each summer. At our last visit, she surprised us with gifts of small candle holders, and the tears in her eyes showed us she loved us as we loved her. I’ll miss you always, Caroline, and will hear your bright and chipper voice again some day.”
