He was predeceased by: his wife Helen. He is survived by: his children, Carol Jerome, Robert Thompson (Heather) and Steven Thompson (Trish); his grandchildren, Peter (Sara), Danielle (Mark), Matthew, Adam (Morgan), Andrew (Tayler) and Taylor; his great grandchildren, Emma, Adley, Quinn Benjamin, Brody and Blake; his siblings, James Thompson (Betty), Marion Thaxter (David), Lorna Krugel, Lloyd Thompson (Carole), Allen Thompson (late Velma Maunder George), Pearl Hampton (Bob), Andy Krugel Clarence and Gord Henry; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Thompson and Irene Henry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
