He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Tanton; his grandson Tom Kennedy; and his siblings, Mary (Ronald), Margaret (Robert), Jean (Robert) and Michael.
He is survived by: his children, Luanne Tanton of Peterborough, Cheryl Loucks (Dave) of Keswick, William John "Sonny" (Karen) of Magnetewan and John James "Jim" (Tina) of Barrie; his grandchildren, Jon, Mark "Munch", James, Mitchell, Kayle and Bill; his great grandchildren, Ariana, Ariyah, Kinsley, Kai, Nathan, Samuel, Arya and Atlas; and his brother Steven Tanton (Sandy) of Bramalea. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hendren Funeral Homes - Lakefield Chapel (66 Queen St, Lakefield, ON K0L2H0). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Hendren Funeral Homes, Lakefield Chapel (66 Queen St, Lakefield, ON K0L2H0).
