He was predeceased by: his grandson James. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Gaus; his children, Deborah Sachs (Randy), Michael Gaus (late Deb), Patricia Bourassa (Kevin Lahey) and Linda Miller (Jeff); his grandchildren, Selena (Haley), Rory (Kathleen), Jessica (Travis), Kayla, Jacqueline (Brad), Tiah, Emily, Jacob and Sarah; his great grandchildren, Sebastian, Christian, Nash, Natalia, Charlotte and Jack; and his sisters-in-law, Frances Gaus (late Wilf), Shirley Gaus (late Bill), Bev Nasi (late Bill), Diane Hymers (Gord) and Janice Yeaman (late Bill). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Kitchener or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
