He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Scarlett; his daughter Karen Scarlett; and his brother Ken. He is survived by: his children, Brenda Watters (Roger), Bev Stringile (late John) and Kim Detweiler; his grandchildren, Gary (Amy), Ryan (Kimberly), Marie (Cody), Amanda (Brian), Richard (Tammy) and Michael (Jacqueline); his great grandchildren, Ethan, Everly, Johnny, Gracie, Emma, Dani, Owen, Tristin and Amellia; his siblings, Howard, Jim, Gwen, Marjorie and Isobel; and his sister-in-law Mary Jo. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews.
