He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilhelm Aszmies and Lina Aszmies (Skirbst); his siblings, Edith, Gerda, Monika, Heidi, Horst, Manfred and Helmut; and his niece Gudrun Roux (Lucy).
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Aszmies (Lutz); his children, Robert (Sandra) and Jamie (Erin); his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Hannah, Fynn (Snook), Danielle and Gavin; and his sisters, Brigitte and Renate. He is also survived by three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law. and also by many Lutz nieces and nephews.
