She was predeceased by: her daughter Dawn; her parents, Arthur Laporte and Irene Laporte (Laviolette); and her siblings, Darl Laporte (Madeline) and Roma Forgues (Euclid).
She is survived by: her siblings, Robert (Bob) and Dianne Laporte (Larry); her sister-in-law Margareta Estherhuizen (Bokkie); her children, Hendrik, Narda and Vania Blaauw; her nieces and nephews, Marla, Annette, Karin, Hende-Mari, Cobus, Tony and Danny; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Khalil, Khenan, Kahleb and Rose; and her great grandchildren, Rukari, Oaklin, Ivy and Paisley.
Always having a rescued cat or dog at home, and a strong advocate for those who could not speak for themselves, Betty would have appreciated in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to rescue groups such as Advocates for Northern Animals.
