He was predeceased by: his parents, William and Hazel (Monk); his parents-in-law, Chester Smith and Bernice Smith (Jack); his sister Ruth McKechnie; and his siblings-in-law, Cathy Smith, Micheline Smith, John Cragg, Harold Smith, Neil Smith and David Zinck.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Smith); his children, Kerry (Tyler) and Bruce (Tania); his grandchildren, Stephen (Kayla), Justin (Chelsea), Kaitlin (Ryan), Riley (Jorden), Dawson (Jamie), Cole, Rebecca and Makenzie; his great grandchildren, Finnley, Griffin, Ava, Daxton, Marcus and Olivea; his siblings, Sharon Zinck, Paul Burrows (Reta) and Barb Fuller (Gerry); and his siblings-in-law, Jim Smith, Anne Cragg, Ellen MacPherson (Milton) and Yvonne Reid. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations to be directed to a charity of choice, in Fred's name.
