He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bird and Leta Bird; and his brothers, William Louis, John and Peter Bird.

He is survived by: his wife Florence; his children, Bonnie (Grant Gribbon), Stephen Bird and James Bird (Vlora); his grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Adam and Sara; and his sisters, Iris, Yvonne and Marilyn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended families.
