Though Ilse may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Friedrich Schmidt and Koroline Schmidt; and her husband Gustav "Gus" Schaefer. She is survived by: her children, Bodo Schaefer (Lucille McKim) and Beatrix Griffin (Len); her brother Manfred Schmidt of Germany; and her siblings-in-law, Gretel and Hilde.
