He was predeceased by: his wife Klara. He is survived by: his stepmother Muguette Brunet; his sisters, Joanne Stewart and Tina Scott (Craig); his sisters-in-law, Aniko Juozapaitis (Wally) and Viktoria Barnes (Mark); and his nieces and nephews, Jessica Stewart, Heather Pridham (James), Emily Barnes, Maureen Barnes, Nicholas Stewart (Taylor), Chris Allison, Tom Allison (Andrea) and Conor Barnes (Ariel).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be deeply appreciated by the family.
