He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn; his parents, Margaret Backus and Arthur Backus; and his brother Ross (Helen). He is survived by: his child Joseph Backus; and his sisters, Marion (late Dennis) and June (late Jack). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
