He was predeceased by: his parents, Sigurjon Austman (Sam) and Gudny Lovisa Sveinbjornson (Louise); his sister Doreen; his daughter-in-law Katherine; and his great grandchildren, Jack, Josephine and Steven.

He is survived by: his wife Frances; his children, Daniel (Susan), Gord (Margie), Sam (late Katherine) and Kristin; and his siblings, Karin (Dennis), Myrna (Mike), Diana and Neil (Brenda).
