He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Spence and Elsie Spence; and his siblings, James, Murray Spence and Evelyn Daber.

He is survived by: his children, Judy Smith (Syd) of Edmonton, Tim Baker (Christena) of Renfrew and Jeff Baker of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Richard, Alex Smith, Rhys Baker and Alena Kutsera; his sibling Shirley Vincent (Reg) of Pembroke; and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Curry, Elda Spence, Harold Daber, Arnold Wren and Norma Stevenson. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
