Maxine Harris Obituary
Maxine Harris (Maxine Marguerite McCrea), passed away naturally, and in peace in her home on January 27, 2024, at the age of 91.
Born on July 1, 1932, Maxine was the youngest of 6 children of Ralph & Mary McCrea. All of her siblings have already passed.
Maxine always enjoyed spending time with others, she liked curling, cards, and almost anything that allowed her to gather with others to share laughs and stories.
Maxine was raised in rural northern Manitoba near Bowsman where she went to school and met her husband, Bertie Harris.
She worked for some time at Eaton’s in Winnipeg and often spoke fondly of the time she spent learning her trade. She always told it like it was and had a knack for saying the right thing at the right time. This is why she fit right in as her role as a postmaster in her own home, later making a great career out of it. The personal touch she brought to the job put smiles on her customer’s faces day after day.
Later moving from Steelman to Rockglen and then back to Benfait, she later retired from the post office. After retirement, she moved to Kisby for a brief time before moving back to Estevan, and finally Keswick, ON in 2009 to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph & Karen and to be close to her daughter Rowenna.
During retirement she enjoyed going to the casino, Club 55 and driving – everywhere. If she wanted to visit friends and relatives, she just went! She truly enjoyed her retirement to the fullest.
Maxine lived a long and happy life with friends, family and everyone she met along the way. We loved her and she loved life!
Maxine was predeceased by her daughter Robbins, but will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer (Harley), Monique, Keith, and Amanda (Chris); daughter Rowenna (Michael-deceased) grandchildren James (Katie) and Shelly (Ian); daughter Renneta (Roy) grandchildren Sara (Stefan) and Sonya; daughter Rexlynn (Brian) grandchildren Brent (Karen) and Lynn; son Ralph (Karen), grandchildren Steven (Lisette), Ryan (Allie), and Mallory; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
