Melanie Atkinson lit a candle

“In loving memory of Kika Smith, Having known Kika 25 or so years, she was ALWAYS a delight to see, whether it was in a work capacity, at kick boxing, or socially. She was genuine, kind, fun and took an interest in what we were doing. She seemed happy and relaxed no matter what the circumstances. We will miss her smiling face, easy going personality, and her commitment to our community. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you.”

Susan Hreljac wrote a sympathy message

“We’d like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Kika’s family and the staff at Brewed Awakenings. Kika was always ready to lend a helping hand, to lend an ear. Having to deal with the impossible reality that we will no longer see her smiling face and feel the warmth of her welcome is going to be and unfortunate reality for so many people. Kika will be deeply missed but will always be fondly and lovingly remembered as an integral part of our community and a beacon for all that is good.”

Divania Loftus wrote a sympathy message

“Kika's Family, We are so heartbroken to hear this news. We moved to Merrickville from Ottawa 5 years ago. Prior to moving, our summer weekends were spent in Merrickville. Our tradition was to stop by Brewed Awakenings for tea, lunch or a treat ( the brownies were my favourite). We met Kika a few times and her smile and humbleness was so welcoming. We loved and still love Brewed Awakenings. We will never forget her and will remember her smile each time whenever we stop by for a tea. D Loftus”
