He was predeceased by: his parents, Lottie Gertrude and Joseph John Sampson (Joe); his brothers, Harold and Gerald; and his siblings-in-law, Diane Forcier, May Sampson and Brian Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Colleen Judith; his sons, John Howard, North Carolina and Dean Al (Amy) of Houston; his sister Gwen (Bill); his siblings-in-law, Cindy Daoust (Richard), Diane Sampson and Miles Johnson; and his goddaughter Candice. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
