He was predeceased by: his wife Suzanne; and his siblings, Elenore Wilson, Lloyd Thompson, Ken Thompson and Norman Anderson.

He is survived by: his children, Lynn Thompson-Sanford (late Richard) and Bruce (Elizabeth) of Kapuskasing; his grandchildren, Spencer and Kalyn; and his sister-in-law Maxine Anderson of Lindsay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
