He was predeceased by: his parents, Verden Buie and Blanche Buie; his brother Joe; and his parents-in-law, Bob and Olga Coomes.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Neil (Meghan), Robert (Kathryn) and Jennifer (Dwyne); his sisters, Marg Smith (Bill) and Cathy King (Doug); his uncle Ron Bock; his brother-in-law Mike Coomes (Susie); and his grandchildren, Simon, Sebastian (Neil), Charlotte, Juliette (Rob), Chase and Brooke (Jen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary.
