He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Swinkels and Anna Swinkels; and his sister-in-law Gail Maguire. He is survived by: his wife Heather Swinkels (Moir); his children, Lisa, Craig Jones, Duane, Ellen Swinkels, Krista and Brad McAlpine; his grandchildren, Baylee, Kinsley, Mackenna, Alton, Ava, Landon and Faye; his sisters, Marie Gyorgy and Rita Harris; and his siblings-in-law, Gordon, Wendy Moir, Jim and Marlene Maguire.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
