He was predeceased by: his siblings-in-law, Peter Bawden and Cindy Smyk; his parents, Bill Smyk and Josie Smyk; and his parents-in-law, Henry Bawden and Blanche Bawden.
He is survived by: his wife Jackie; his children, Derek (Kathryn) of Hamilton, Laura Passmore (Mike) of Wakefield, Quebec, Paul (Ev) of Thunder Bay and Peter (Natalie) of Thunder Bay; his siblings, Dale, Cathy Johnson (Bob) and Mark (Nancy); and his grandchildren, Dylan Smyk, Zoe Smyk, Molly, Finn and Oliver Passmore. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
