He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Gowland; his parents, George Gowland and Estelle Gowland; his daughter Trudy Fox; and his siblings, Dawn, Ralph, Gary, Glenn and Dean.

He is survived by: his daughter Susan Gowland; his grandchildren, Fraser Gowland (Ashley), Colleen Bennett (Chris), Julie Peyton (Larry), Cindy McFadyen (John), Robyn MacDonald and Michael MacDonald; and his sister Rosalyn Cooper (Barry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

As an expression of sympathy memorial donation can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
