He was predeceased by: his husband David Harkness; his parents, Murdock and Catherine (Hooper); and his sister-in-law Belva (Larry Taylor). He is survived by: his sister Cathy (Lynn); his mother-in-law Pearl Harkness; his uncle Rae MacKenzie; his close friend Andrea Rallo; and his siblings-in-law, Harley (Suzanne Smith) and Becky (late Michael Garry).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity United Church, Huntsville, Almaguin Pet Rescue, Hospice Huntsville, Horticultural Society or Huntsville Agricultural Society.
