He was predeceased by: his former wife Eileen Machan (Shaughnessy); his parents, Kenneth Machan and Susan Machan; his siblings, Isobel Wood (Joe), William Machan (Shirley) and Harold Machan; and his siblings-in-law, Bernard Shaughnessy and Dorothy Allen.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara, Patrick Martin of Saugeen Shores, Carolyn Machan, David Martin of Etobicoke, Colleen, Jeff Henkenhaf of East Garafraxa, Kimberly, Hugh Grafton of Meaford, Gary Machan of Mount Forest, Kevin Machan, Sheila McKnight of Owen Sound, Gerald, Jill Machan of Harriston, Andrew and Joanne Machan of London; his grandchildren, Brandy Grafton-Rice, Martin Rice, Nathalja, Rick Hogervorst, Tatiana Henkenhaf, Matt Gubasta, Wyatt, Alex Machan, Ariana Machan, Reid Machan, Luke Machan, Emmett Machan, Arwen Machan and Morgan Machan; his sister Muriel McIntee; and his wife Helen Machan.
