He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bender and Pearl Bender; his wife Verna; his daughter Brenda Lee; and his brother Ross Bender.

He is survived by: his children, Bruce Bender (Debbie) of Kitchener, Barbara Waddington (Phil) of Hanover and John Bender of London; his grandchildren, Jessica, Brenda, Becky, Cassidy, Paige, Darren and Benny; his great grandchildren, Konnor, Skyler, Faith, Owen and Jackson; and his siblings, Walter Bender of Mississauga, Ken Bender (Everdina) of Wallace Township and Audrey Bender of Waterloo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
